'Normal life' returns as COVID restrictions removed in Bangladesh, Corona claims 237 lives

<span style="color: black;">Bangladesh resumed 'normal life' with COVID restrictions being removed by the government on Wednesday. Capital city Dhaka saw the usual traffic with jams on major roads and intersections of the city. Shops and malls were bustling with most of the people wearing face masks. City roads were busy with traffic. People returned back to their daily business of life even while the fear of the pandemic lurked behind everyone's mind as coronavirus continued to claim hundreds of lives in a day. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: black;">Bangladesh has been under various kinds of lockdowns since April 5 when Corona cases started rising sharply. Government imposed restrictions and sometimes relaxed some of those trying to balance the demands of safety of life and allowing livelihood of people to continue, even if at a reduced scale. </span><br />'' <span style="color: black;"><br />'' <br />'' </span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">Over the last five months, except for a week of relaxations between July 15-22, the country has been under COVID 19 restrictions such as suspension of public transport, limited opening of shops and malls, offices and other places of public gathering. Many of the restrictions continue but most of life has returned back to normal, at least for now.</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;"><br />'' <br />'' </span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">Country also launched the vaccination campaign from Saturday despite shortage of vaccine. The government gave a nod for the purchase of 60 million doses of the Chinese Sinovac COVID vaccine on Wednesday as it is making strenuous efforts to procure vaccines from whatever sources it can. Till now more than 19.67 million doses of the vaccine have been administered while the country awaits arrival of fresh consignment of vaccines from abroad. </span><br />''<br />'' <span style="color: black;">In the meanwhile, the death toll due to COVID 19 went up to 23,398 on Wednesday with 237 deaths and 10,420 new corona positive cases reported in the country. The sample positivity rate continued to show a downward trend at 23.45 percent on Wednesday compared to 23.54 percent on Tuesday and 24.28 percent on Monday. The recovery rate has also gone up gradually to 90 percent on Wednesday.</span><br />''  <br />
