In West Bengal, normal life has been affected in Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts due to continuous rain for the last two days. Rain has inundated many areas in Jalpaiguri and several houses were also damaged. Landslides were also reported from Kurseong and some areas near Siliguri were also submerged. AIR Kolkata correspondent reports that water level in Teesta and other main rivers in north Bengal are in spate. Atleast 25,000 people are marooned. North Bengal Development Minister Gautam Dev visited the affected areas in Jalpaiguri yesterday.State Irrigation Minister Manas Bhuiya is visiting North Bengal today to take stock of the situation. State administration is geared up to tackle flood like situation in the region.
