Nonproliferation panel agrees on nuke reduction action plans

An international nuclear nonproliferation panel has reached an agreement on its nuclear arms reduction action plans toward a world free of nuclear weapons. This was stated by the co-chairs of the panel, at the final session of its three-day meeting in Hiroshima. The International Commission onNuclear Nonproliferation and Disarmament, however, refrained from disclosing a target figure for reducing nuclear warheads in the action plans. Referring to the contents of the commission's final report, the panel co-chair Yoriko Kawaguchi told a press conference in Hiroshima said he thinks that it is one of the most comprehensive reports of its kind. The report is to be released in January in the hope of building an international consensus in the run-up to a nonproliferation treaty review conference in May.
