Non-violence, peace inherent features of Indian society: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that non-violence and peace are the inherent features of Indian society. Replying to questions on non-proliferation raised by students of all women Sacred Heart University Tokyo today, he said that India is the land of Buddha and Gandhiji who stood for peace and non-violence. He said that when India will have to look into its international relations, commitment towards its own society will have to be taken into account. Earlier while delivering the lecture at the university he said that India and Japan as democratic nations should go ahead with positive thinking. He said that women are being given very high status in India. He told the students of all women university that girls education has been given high priority in India. He urged that more and more women should be involved in decision making. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met several politicians including the President of Democratic Party of Japan Banri Kaieda, Chief Representative of New Komeito Party Natsuo
Yamaguchi . He also met prominent persons like Yohei Sasakawa chairman of Nippon Foundation and Governor of Aichi Prefecture Hideaki. The Prime Minister will deliver keynote address at an event organised by Japan-India Association and Japan India Parliamentary friend League.
Later in the day, he will interact with Indian community in Japan.
