Non-redressal of attacks on Indians may affect India-Oz relations

India has said that the non-redressal of the attacks on Indians will cast a shadow on the excellent bilateral relations with Australia. The External Affairs Minister, Mr S M Krishna also urged the Australian government to immediately ensure that the concerned state police authorities deals with the on going investigations with sensitivity and sense of urgency. <br/><br/>Mr Krishna conveyed this to his Australian counterpart Stephen Smith when he telephoned him this after noon. Mr Krishna, while expressing his deep concern at the series of attacks on Indians, reiterated the need for immediate corrective measures. <br/><br/>He also pointed out that the issue has been raised many a times in the parliament. Mr Krishna told Mr Smith in spite of the reassurances by the Australian authorities of treating these incidents with utmost seriousness, the attacks continue to take place Mr Smith said that his government is giving highest priority to ensure the well being of Indian students. He also said that the Australian government was conscious of the need for an early breakthrough in the investigations into the attacks.
