Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today sharply criticised non-congress governments in Uttar pradesh holding them responsible for the backwardness of the state.Initiating his five-day public contact programme in eastern districts of the state, Mr. Gandhi addressed his first public meeting at Barabanki. He accused the BSP government for indulging in corrupt practices and said the common man is not benefitting from the schemes and programmes initiated by the centre. He alleged that only leaders from the ruling party and middle men are benefitting from the funds provided by the UPA Government for welfare of the people in the state. He said, keeping in view previous experiences, the centre has decided to provide economic relief to weavers directly and the amount will be deposited in their accounts directly.
