Non-Cong govts responsible for UP backwardness: Rahul

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today sharply criticised the non-Congress governments in Uttar Pradesh, holding them responsible for backwardness of the state.Initiating his 5 days public contact campaigning in eastern districts of the state, Mr. Gandhi addressed three public meetings at different assembly constituencies at Barabanki and Beharaich districts.He alleged the BSP government for indulging in corrupt practices and said that common men were not benefited with schemes and programmes initiated by the centre.He alleged that only leaders from ruling party and middle men are benefited with the funds provided by the Centre for welfare of the people in the state.He said keeping in view previous experiences, Centre has decided to provide economic relief to weavers directly and the amount will be deposited in their accounts directly.Reiterating his allegations for malpractices in the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Guaranty Act, MNREGA in the state, he said, fund was siphoned off into the pockets of middlemen and ruling party agents.He emphasised for political change in the state and said that his party was committed for the progress of the state as it has done in the other parts of the country.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that Mr. Gandhi is scheduled to address public meetings at Baharaich, Shrawasti, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar Maharaj Nagar, and Kushinagar districts during his public contact campaigning.His campaign will be concluded at Kushinagar on the 26th of this month.
