The Election Commission has directed that the execution of non-bailable arrest warrant should not be used for political harassment. Addressing a press conference at Kolkata Wednesday afternoon the Chief Election Commissioner S.Y. Quresh said that such arrest warrant should be executed only against criminal who may disturb the poll process. Qureshi said that besides 182 general observers, the commission will send for the first time 13 police observers to monitor law and order in sensitive area during assembly poll in the state. The full bench of the election commission headed by Qureshi is in Kolkata on a two day visit to review assembly election preparedness in West Bengal.
