Nominations for UP panchayat polls end today

In Uttar Pradesh, today is last date for filing of nomination papers for 1st phase of three tier panchayat elections.In last two days 3,34,920 candidates have filed their nominations for panchayat elections.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports a total of 1,28,911 women candidates have filed their nominations for Gram Panchayat, Kshetra Panchayat and Zila Panchayat elections. September 28 and 29 are fixed for withdrawal of papers.The first phase of polling is scheduled on October 11 of next month, in which 13,414 Gram Panchayats spread over 223 Blocks will go for poll.Meanwhile, the State Election Commission has changed polling schedule in few blocks in Ferozabad, Bijnore, Barabanki, Pilibhit, Rampur, Gautam Buddh Nagar and Hardoi districts due to flood and other local reasons. The Additional Election Commissioner of State Election Commission JP Singh said central Para Military forces would not be deployed in Panchayat Elections. Replying a question on Naxal hit districts he said, central forces are already deployed there for security.
