In Tamil Nadu the nomination papers of Mrs. Jayanthi, wife of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President Mr. K. V. Thangabalu and Congress candidate in Mylapore constituency in Chennai was on Monday rejected, when it was taken up scrutiny. The returning officer for constituency said Mrs. Jayanthi had filed two sets of nomination papers and did not sign in both the papers. The nomination papers filed by Mr. Thangabalu, as a dummy candidate were found in order. In another development, the nomination of Mr. Sadasivam, PMK candidate in Vedaranyam constituency was also rejected.’AIR correspondent reports that 4280 nominations filed for the April 13th elections were scrutinized on Monday. The state election department is yet to officially announce the number of nominations found in order and those rejected.
