No worry about fiscal deficit target, govt able to meet current year's target: Jaitley

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said that there is no worry about fiscal deficit target and the government will be able to meet current year's target. Speaking at the HT Leadership Summit in New Delhi, Mr Jaitley said, there will be a temporary pressure on fiscal deficit on account of 7th Pay Commission and it will remain for 2 to 3 years. He said, the government has to look at cutting small savings rate with political pragmatism and have to move in that direction cautiously. Responding to a question, the Finance Minister admitted that spending on health and education needs to be higher. He said, India has initiated many reforms through checks and balances in the systems. He asserted that rationalisation of subsidies done by the present government is one of the major reforms in the last few months.
