No warning for Maldivian citizens against travelling to Sri Lanka despite Influenza AH1N1

The Maldives Centre for Community Health and Disease Control (CCHDC) has said it has not advised Maldivian citizens against travelling to Sri Lanka as reported in certain media in Sri Lanka.According to official reports reaching from Maldives, the CCHDC of Maldives has not called for any travel restrictions as a result of the reported cases of AH1N1 influenza virus, but has only urged the travellers to exercise caution and maintain basic hygienic measures like washing hands, particularly among those most vulnerable to the disease such as pregnant women, children and the elderly.There has been a sudden increase in AH1N1 influenza cases in Sri Lanka. According to officials, starting from 6th December up to now 16 deaths has occurred owing to the disease. This is out of 22 deaths reported since September. The number of AH1N1 cases reported since 6th December stands at 122, a very high number for a period of just 2 weeks, according to the health officials.
