Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Nasim Zaidi said that Election Commission has ensured that no voter should walk more than 2 kilometers distance to poll his or her vote. Addressing a press conference in Amritsar today he said that educational qualifications fixed by Supreme Court for candidates to contest panchyat elections will not be applicable for candidates of Lok sabha and Vidhan Sabha so far.<br/><br/>After reviewing the preparation for Punjab Assembly elections during his two days visit of Amritsar he said assembly elections in Punjab would be held as per schedule. Mr. Zaidi held meetings with the district electoral officers of Punjab in the presence of Chief Electoral Officer and other officers of the election department of Punjab.<br/><br/>He said Election Commission is introducing automatic system for voter list revision under which votes of all dead persons would be deleted and every child who attains 18 years of age would automatically become a voter by showing his or her birth certificate.
