No Tsunami threat to Eastern coast: Govt

The government has said, there was no immediate Tsunami threat to country's mainland and the Andaman and Nicobar islands in view of a strong 7.2-magnitude quake which hit the Indonesian province of Aceh today. <br/><br/>However it has advised concerned state governments to take adequate precautionary measures in order to mitigate any disaster arising from the alert. <br/> <br/>In Tamil Nadu, people along the Chennai coast who moved to safer places have since begun returning home. Official sources said an alert was sounded by the district administration in the coastal districts of Nagapattinam, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari.<br/> <br/>In Andhra Pradesh, the authorities of all the coastal districts have been put on alert. The fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea and those who have already gone have been asked to come back immediately. The tourists at all the beaches in the state including Visakhapatnam have been asked to leave immediately.
