Congress President Sonia Gandhi today stressed that no time should be lost in bringing perpetrators of the barbaric gangrape to justice while Prime Minister Manmohan Singh assured that the guilty will not be spared.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the 127th Foundation Day of Congress at AICC headquarters in New Delhi, both Mrs. Gandhi and Dr. Singh said they shared the anguish and the anger of the country over the December 16 incident.
Mrs. Gandhi said, all thoughts are with the young woman, who is fighting for her life after the barbarous attack on her.
After hoisting the party flag at 24 Akbar Road, she said, the only wish today is that the victim recovers and comes back to us and that no time is lost in bringing the perpetrators of such barbarous act to justice. Prime minister Manmohan Singh asssured that the UPA government is committed to bringing the guilty to justice as soon as possible.
Party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and other senior Congress leaders were also among those who participated in the commemorative function held at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi. Several functions were also held at the Congress offices in the states.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Delhi gangrape victim has significant brain injury, infection in lungs and abdomen and she is currently struggling against all odds at Mount Elizabeth Hospital where her condition continues to be extremely critical.
Dr Kelvin Loh, Chief Executive Officer, Mount Elizabeth Hospital in a statement said that the patient is currently struggling against the odds, and fighting for her life.
Briefing reporters in Singapore on girl's condition, Dr Loh said, as at 11am (8:30 IST) the patient continues to remain in an extremely critical condition.
The girl, who was gang-raped and brutally assaulted in a moving bus on December 16, was brought Singapore in an air ambulance yesterday and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
