Iran has ruled out talks on its nuclear programme if the UN Security Council adopts fresh sanctions. Addressing a news conference in Istanbul today, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Iran will accept talks if there is respect and fairness, but will reject talks if it is treated rudely and in a domineering manner. He also criticised Russia for supporting the sanctions and warned it against siding with Iran's foes. Meanwhile, the Iranian foreign ministry spokesman told newsmen in Tehran today that his country will use legal channels to secure the release of its nuclear scientist Shahram Amiri held in the United States. Earlier, in a video clip screened on Iranian television channels, Amiri was shown as saying that his abduction was intended to mount political pressure on Iran.
