No shortage of funds for minority welfare schemes: Khurshid

The Minority Affairs Minister Mr. Salman Khurshid today said that there is no shortage of funds for minority welfare schemes.Briefing reporters in New Delhi today, he said against the target of 25 lakh minority students to be provided financial scholarships; nine lakh students have already been provided the scholarship under different categories in the current financial year. He said about five and half lakh families have been benefited under Indira Awas Yojana in the last fiscal. Referring to the Prime Minister's New 15 point programme for welfare of minorities, he said that over twenty-three thousand seven hundred Anaganwadi Centres have been operationalised in the minority dominated areas. He gave the details of the other programmes launched for the welfare of the minorities and said that a bill to control the communal violence in the country is under consideration in parliament and several other legislation have been passed to protect the interest of minorities.
