No shortage of fertilizers for Rabi seThe government said there is no shortage of fertilizers for the Rabi season. Dismissing the opposition charges about the shortage of fertilizers the Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Mr. Srikant Jena said in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that the availability of fertilizers is more than the requirements sent by the states and blamed the state government for not ensuring that the fertilisers are made available to the farmers. He said that under the Fertilisers Control Order the state government has to monitor the supplies to the farmers as well as take action if there is black marketing or smuggling of fertilizers. He said as far as the requirement of fertilizers for Rabi crops in 2009-10, his department has already finalised arrangements for making the fertilizers available well in advance. The Minister said the Centre has also advised the state governments to tie up with importers and manufacturers on the supply of de-controlled fertilizers like DAP, MOP and NPK to avoid any shortage. He said several states have already taken action in this regard through marketing agencies.<br/>
