Government today said that there is no shortage of coal in the country. This was informed by Power Minister Piyush Goyal in a written reply in the Lok Sabha. Mr Goyal said, none of the Coal based power generation plants across the country have reported any loss of generation due to shortage of coal during 2015-16. <br/><br/>He said, as on 21st April this year coal stock at power plants has been reported to be more than 37 Million Tonne by power utilities which is sufficient for operation of power plants for about 25 days. The Minister also informed that Coal India Limited has fixed the target for coal production during current financial year is around 598 million tonnes.
