No scope for third party mediation on Kashmir: New Delhi

New Delhi today asserted that there is no scope for third party mediation on Kashmir. Sources in the Minstry of External Affairs said that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country with a vibrant democracy and the question of any third party mediation doesn't arise. Sources however said that India is committed to resolve all outstanding issues with Pakistan through dialogue. The response came after Islamabad sought Washington's intervention to seek a solution of Kashmir issue.Earlier, New Delhi rejected the resolution adopted by Pakistan Parliament on Jammu and Kashmir. An External Affairs Ministry spokesman said that Pakistan has no locus standi as this is purely an internal affair of India. Instead, Pakistan should tackle the issues of constitutional safeguards, democracy, extremism, terrorism and human rights violations in the part of Jammu and Kashmir which is under its illegal occupation. He also asked Pakistan to fulfill its commitment of not allowing the territory under its control to be used for terrorism directed against India.
