There is no let up in the flood situation in Darbhanga, while it has relatively improved in Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur and Samastipur districts of North Bihar. All rivers except Adhwara and Kamla Balan are receding. However, most of them are still flowing above the danger marks. In Darbhanga, several dozens of villages are heavily flooded and people are being shifted to safer places. There are reports of flood water entering fresh areas of the district including the outskirts of the Darbhanga town itself. District Magistrate R Laxmanan told AIR that more than 3500 people have been provided relief. In Sheohar, the National Highway connecting to Muzaffarpur is still close for traffic due to overflowing of flood water on stretches. In Madhubani district, several blocks are still cut off from their district headquarters. Teams of National Disaster Relief Force are conducting relief and rescue operations in the affected areas. Earlier, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted aerial survey of the flood hit district and assured adequate relief for the affected people. He directed Chief Secretary Navin Kumar to hold a video conference today to pass necessary directions of the concerned district magistrates regarding rescue operations.
