No respite from heat wave in northern & central part of country

Severe Heat wave conditions continue unbated in northern, central and western parts of the country. Kota in Rajasthan was the hottest region yesterday with the mercury settling at 48.4 degrees. The temperature crossed the 48 degree mark in Sriganganagar and Jaisalmer as well.<br/><br/>Heat wave conditions also prevailed over north and Kutch region of Gujarat with Bhavnagar boiling at 45.1 degree celsius and the mercury settling at 44.4 degrees in Ahmedabad <br/><br/>Punjab and Haryana too witnessed intense heat with Hisar recording its hottest day in over a decade at 48.1 degrees, seven degrees above the normal. At 45.9 degree celsius Amritsar recorded its highest temperature this season. <br/><br/>In Maharastra, Nagpur sizzled at 47.2 degrees while the temperature was 48.3 degrees in Bramhapuri and 48 degree celsius Wardha.<br/><br/>With hot winds blowing across several places, National Capital also didn’t receive any respite from the rising mercury. The maximum temperature settled at 44.6 degrees and the minimum at 29.6 degrees.<br/><br/>In Madhya Pradesh, temperatures in many parts of the state showed a dip under impact of localized clouding and high velocity winds. <br/><br/>Our Bhopal correspondent reports that heat wave is still sweeping across the state heating up most of the areas to an uncomfortable level.<br/><br/> AIR Correspondent reports that, In northern Madhya Pradesh temperatures remained quite high with Khajuraho recording the highest maximum of 47.7 degrees. Guna, Satna and Gwalior recorded maximum temperatures of 46 degrees. <br/><br/>The sweltering heat has severely affected normal life in the state. The streets wore a deserted look in afternoon hours as people preferred to remain indoors. Heavy power cuts have made the people’s life miserable.
