<span style="color: #222222;">Centre today said there is no report of starvation deaths from States and Union Territories. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, the Minister of State for Food and Public Distribution Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said the government is implementing the National Food Security Act 2013, which provides for coverage up to 75 percent of rural population and up to 50 percent of urban population for receiving highly subsidized foodgrains under Targeted Public Distribution System. She said, it covers about two-thirds of the total population which as per Census 2011 comes to 81 crore 35 lakh. She said coverage under the Act is substantially high to ensure that all the vulnerable and needy sections of society get its benefit.</span><br />
