The Election Commission has said that it has made no recommendation to the government to lower the voting age to 16. A press release of the Commission said that no such proposal has been made to the government. Referring to Media reports about Chief Election Commission's observation at Bhubaneshwar, the release said that the Chief Election Commissioner has maintained that the commission is currently focusing on ensuring fullest participation of the newly eligible 18-year-olds in the electoral process.
