Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar today said, India and China have handled border issues in the past and there is no reason the two countries will not be able to handle them this time. <br/><br/>Mr Jaishankar said this in Singapore while responding to questions on the standoff between Indian and Chinese troops in the Dokalam area of the Sikkim sector. He was addressing a lecture on 'India-ASEAN and the Changing Geopolitics. <br/><br/>Mr Jaishankar said, it is not the first time that border differences have existed between India and China adding that both countries have stakes in each other and so do the ASEAN member nations.<br/><br/>The Foreign Secretary also said, last month during the meeting at Astana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping admitted that in their relationship, India and China must not allow differences to become disputes. He also said, it was also agreed that at a time of global uncertainty, India and China relations are factors of stability.
