No question of privatisation in railways: Govt.

The centre today categorically said that there is no question of allowing privatisation in railways. Replying to nearly five hour long discussion on supplementary demand for grants for railways in the current fiscal in the lok sabha, Railway minister Ms. Mamta Banerjee said infrastructure development will be taken up with the help of private sector.<br/>She said a white paper on railways along with a vision document will be brought out soon. Seeking to set a time frame for completion of various projects being carried out by the railways, she said talks are on with Japanese bank for funding the dedicated frieght corridors , which will give thrust to industrial growth and generate employment . Ms. Banerjee said Western corridor will be taken up first on a priority basis.<br/>Expressing concern over frequent blocking the movement of trains and damage to railway property, Ms. Mamta Banerjee made a fervent plea to political parties and agitators not to indulge in such acts.<br/>She said sufficient number of special trains will be run to cater to the rush during festivals including Kumbh mela at Haridwar , Ganga Sagar Fair and Urs. Later the house, passed the supplementary demand for grants through a voice vote.<br/><br/>
