No proposal to shut down Jawaharlal Nehru University: Venkaiah Naidu

The government has said there is no proposal to shut down Jawaharlal Nehru University. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu expressed concern over the recent development in the prestigious university saying image of the institution was damaged. <br/><br/>Mr Naidu told reporters outside Parliament today that country is disturbed as anti India slogans were raised by students in JNU. He, however, said there was always a scope for dissent and debate. Advising the students of universities to only pursue their academic agenda, Mr Naidu suggested them not to indulge in any anti-national activity. <br/><br/>Urging the opposition for cooperation so that passage of key legislations can be ensured, the Minister said, it has been already made it clear that the government is more than willing to discuss every issue be it JNU or Hyderabad university matter or recent terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and Pathankot.<br/> <br/>The Parliamentary Affairs Minister said people of the country are looking at Parliament therefore agenda of development should be discussed jointly by all political parties keeping aside the politics.
