The government says there is no proposal to raise the prices of petroleum products in the near future. Sources in petroleum Ministry said that any decision on the issue in the future will be taken by the cabinet.<br/><br/>The Kirit Parikh committee which submitted its report to the government on Wednesday has suggested increase in the prices of petrol, diesel, kerosene and cooking gas. The committee was mandated to prepare administered prices mechanism of the petroleum products.<br/><br/>It has argued in its report that huge under recovery of the oil marketing companies is a great cause of concern and needs to be addressed on a war footing.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the BJP today said that government should not take any decision on the Parikh Committee's recommendation to hike the prices of petroleum products.<br/><br/>Briefing media persons in New Delhi, the party spokesman, Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad said that government should wait and discuss the matter in the budget session of Parliament which is gong to be held from 22nd of this month.<br/><br/>He said, people are already suffering from price rise of essential commodities and it will increase the hardship of common man, if the recommendation is implemented.
