The government has clarified that there is no proposal to discontinue Supplementary Nutrition Program under ICDS and replace it with Conditional Cash Transfer. <br/><br/>Women and Child Development Ministry dismissed reports published in a section of media in this connection. <br/><br/>The Ministry pointed out that these reports are not based on correct factual position. <br/><br/>It said, supplementary nutrition services under ICDS programme are legal entitlements under the National Food Security Act. <br/><br/>As per provisions of the Act, a child in the age group of 6 months to 6 years is entitled to an age-appropriate meal, free of charge, through the local Anganwadi for nutrition.
