No proposal to amend Constitution to allow reservation in higher judiciary: Govt

Government today made it clear that there is no proposal being considered to amend the Constitution to allow reservation in higher judiciary. <br/><br/>Replying supplementaries in the Lok Sabha, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, the suggestions from various quarters have been received in this regard but, at present there is no such proposal.<br/><br/>He, however, said the issue needs to be looked into at some point of time. Mr. Prasad further said that he has requested Chief Justices of High Courts to give due consideration for people from backward classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Minorities among others, while sending proposals for appointment of judges.
