The government has no proposal for waiving farm loans post demonetization. Minister for Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Parshottam Rupala said also there is no proposal to announce a special package for farmers. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, he said that the government is focussing on farmers' welfare by making the farming viable. <br/><br/>The Minister said the farm viability is possible when the cost of cultivation is reduced, yields per unit of farm are increased and farmers get remunerative prices on their produce.<br/><br/>Replying to another question, he said over eight thousand farmers had committed suicide during 2015. He said maximum cases of farmers' suicides were reported in Maharashtra followed by Telangana.
