No proposal at present to amend Electricity Act to make Direct Benefit Transfer of subsidy mandatory for consumers: Power Minister in RS

Government today said there is no proposal at present to amend the Electricity Act to make Direct Benefit Transfer of subsidy mandatory for electricity consumers. Power Minister RK Singh said this in a written reply in Rajya Sabha. He however said that DBT has been implemented by some states like Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh in certain areas of supply.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">He also said the provisions regarding amendment in Section 65 pertaining to subsidy to the consumers which was proposed under draft Electricity Amendment Bill 2020 is not being pursued further.</span><br />
