Union Minister for Commerce and Industries Anand Sharma today ruled out the possibility of mid-term elections to the Lok Sabha saying that the opposition BJP was trying to mislead the people by unleashing such propaganda.

Talking to newsmen in Raipur in Chhattisgarh, Shri Anand Sharma said the centre’s decision to allow Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail sector was taken in consultation with all stake holders such as farmers and consumers.

He said FDI in retail sector will directly benefit them besides generating large scale employment
opportunities.

Referring to the row over coal block allocation, Union minister said the BJP owed an apology to the nation and Parliament for not allowing the country’s highest democratic forum to function during the monsoon session.

He said the BJP was facing a leadership crisis and all its actions were aimed at diverting people’s attention from its own problems.
