Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan convened an All Party Meeting in New Delhi to ensure smooth functioning of Winter Session of Parliament beginning from Monday. Talking to reporters after the meeting yesterday, Mrs. Mahajan said that all the parties have assured her for extending full cooperation in running the House. The speaker said that she will try to take all the political parties on board for discussion on any issue.
Replying to a question about shifting the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Mrs. Mahajan said that there will be no change in the proceedings. After the All Party meeting, the Speaker hosted a dinner for the leaders which was also attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Around thirty nine bills including Insurance and the Goods and Services Tax bills are expected to be taken up for passing during the month long Session.
Our correspondent reports that Parliamentary Affairs Minister Minister Venkaiah Naidu has also convened a meeting of leaders of all political parties today ahead of the Winter Session.
