The government has not imposed any penalty against companies and institutions for violating the conditions of environment and forest clearances in the last two years. <br/><br/>This was informed by Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today. He was asked whether the government has waived the penalty imposed on certain companies recently. Earlier this month, the Environment Ministry had termed reports as incorrect that a particular company was spared a hefty fine for environmental damage during construction of Mundra port and said it had imposed more serious responsibility on the firm without any cost limit.
