No negotiation on issue of sovereignty of the country: Assam CM

The Assam Chief Minister Mr. Tarun Gogoi has clarified that there will be no negotiation on the issue of sovereignty of the country while talking to the banned underground outfit-ULFA. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function at Guwahati, the Chief Minister said people of Assam never deserve a separation from the national mainstream. He said even the Great Baishnavite reformer of the State-Shankardeva did’nt desire this, rather he contributed towards uniting different communities in the region. Mr. Gogoi said the Government is ready to sit for peace talks but the proposal should first come from the leaders of the militant outfit. He also denied release of the jailed leaders of the outfit on the suggestion of some of the intellectuals of the State.
