Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has once again appealed to all those persons who have come back from other states to return to their places of work or study. Talking to newsmen in Guwahati, he said there is no need to panick as all the states have given assurance to provide security to the people of Assam who are residing in other states. He said Assam government is in constant touch with other states. Curfew has been relaxed in Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Dhubri district and Rangia revenue circle from 8 to 14 hours.Meanwhile, the Karnataka, Police has arrested 16 persons and registered 15 complaints regarding verbal threats and threatening SMS to people of north East region. The City Police Commissioner Mr.Jyoti Prakash Mirji said three people were arrested for inciting hatred through bulk SMS. A case has been registered against them under various sections for promoting enemity between two communities. The 600 Central paramilitary forces that include three battalions each of RAF and CRPF and about 600 home guards, 1,500 trainee police personnel and a 17,000-strong contingent of the Bangalore Police are keeping a vigil in the city. Pickets have been set up at sensitive areas. Several businessmen agreed to provide either accommodation for the North-East workers at the workplace or safe conveyance if they left for home late at night. Peace committees have been for’med at the Mohalla and street levels to monitor the situation.
