Both the Houses of Parliament failed to transact any legislative business for the second day today of the extended winter session. Members from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu stalled the proceedings on Telangana and the arrest of Tamil fishermen issues.
The agitated members continued to disrupt the proceedings in support of their demands. Members belonging to Congress, Telugu Desam, Telangana Rashtra Samiti and YSR-Congress trooped into the well of the Lok Sabha either in favour or against Telangana.
DMK and AIADMK members from Tamil Nadu also rushed to the well of the both the Houses demanding release of Tamil fishermen arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy. The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day after witnessing an hour-long adjournment in the pre-lunch session. The Rajya Sabha witnessed two adjournments before being finally adjourned for the day.
The Telangana issue continued to rock both the Houses of Parliament. While the members from the Telangana region demanded that the bill for a separate state, be tabled at once, leaders from Seemandhra raised slogans opposing its bifurcation. Even the ruling Congress members from Telangana and Seemandhra region were seen rushing to the well in support of their demands.
Sabbam Hari of the Congress and M Venugopal Reddy of the TDP gave separate notices for moving a No Confidence motion against the UPA government.
