The European Union has assured that there would be no intervention to stop exports from India. Speaking at the EU-India Business summit in New Delhi today, EU trade Commissioner Ms Baroness Catherine Ashton said that the EU would ensure hassle free shipping of goods. She was responding to a question related to reports of shipments in India being stopped. The Union Minister for Trade and Commerce Mr Anand Sharma said that the government is working towards introducing multi brand retails of foreign enterprises in India. Mr Sharma said that New Delhi is keen to expand its trade basket with the EU. He added new areas of cooperation have been identified to achieve this objective. The Minister also said that there is lot of scope in the Information Technology sector to create more jobs. He stressed that India has emerged as a net exporter of services. Talking about the World Trade Organization negotiations, he added that India is hopeful of positive conclusion of the Doha talks by next year.
