In UP, there is no improvement in flood situation in certain Eastern and Western districts as more than five hundred villages remain marooned and over three thousand people affected in 27 districts. The displaced people at some places like Gonda and Barabanki are living on embankments and along the roadside for over a month. AIR correspondent reports that two battalions of National Disaster Response Force are still involved in relief work in most critical areas.In Uttarakhand, Badrinath yatra route has been disrupted due to fresh landslide following heavy rain in Chamoli district. Meanwhile, Uttarkashi has experienced light tremor on Sunday. The monsoon has weakened in Uttar Pradesh, but the flood situation still remains grim as the flood water has entered several more villages. AIR Gorakhpur correspondent quoting state officials, reports that the number of flood affected districts, has mounted to 29. A population of about 20 lakh has become affected in 86 tehsils of these districts. More than 100 people have lost their lives during the current flood fury.
