The CBI has told the special court in Mumbai that no government sanction is needed for the court to take cognizance of a charge sheet filed against former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan in the Adarsh Housing Scam. CBI Public Prosecutor Ejaz Khan has explained that since Ashok Chavan is presently only an MLA and not a minister, no sanction is needed for taking cognizance of the charge sheet filed against him. The special court has scheduled the next hearing in the Adarsh Housing Scam for the 30th of this month.
