The leader of Britain's opposition Conservative Party, David Cameron has said that if he wins the next general election, he will ensure that no further powers are ceded to the European Union without a referendum.Earlier, the party was forced to abandon its promise on a vote on the Lisbon Treaty after it was approved by all EU member-States. Mr. Cameron also said, he would seek the revision of certain major EU provisions. He said, the British public wanted clarity. His stance on the EU has been criticised by France as a pathetic move that will castrate UK influence in Europe. French Minister for Europe, Pierre Lellouche said that EU leaders would not help the Tories re-negotiate treaties.
