In Uttar Pradesh, no fresh incident of violence is reported on Saturday from any curfew hit areas in Faizabad district. Curfew continues in both the police station areas of Kotwali and Cantonment in the district for third consecutive day.
Additional District Magistrate City Mr. Arvind Chaurasia told our Allahabad correspondent this evening that Muslims were allowed to visit their neighbouring mosques to offer prayers on the occasion of the occasion of Idul Azha. He said offering of Namaz on the Idul Azha passed of peacefully under tight security.
He said in view of the incidents of violence and fire in Bhadarasa town area and some localities in the Faizabad city last night security has been tightened.
The Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Ramit Sharma told AIR correspondent that above 70 persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement into incidents of violence and arson and 20 FIRs have been lodged. He has said that situation at Bhadaras is under control where fresh incidents were reported last night.
He said that senior officers including an ADM and ASP are camping at Bhadarasa to keep a close eye on the miscreants. He said objectionable literature and explosives have been seized from Bhadarasa locality during search and raids.
Several persons have been detained from the locality and adjoining villages. The government has deployed several senior police officers including the Additional Director General Law and Order Mr. Jagmohan Yadav and two each IG and DIG level officers and three SP rank officers at Faizabad to control the situation.
The Principle Secretary Home Mr. RN Srivastava has told our correspondent that situation is returning to normalcy.
Appealing people to be aware about rumours being spread by the miscreants he has said that situation completely under control and security forces are deployed at all sensitive places. He said 31 companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary of state police and Rapid Action Force have been deployed in trouble hit areas to maintain peace and order in the district.
Meanwhile Additional Superintendent of Police Rural Areas of the district has been shifted to the city area in the same capacity and another ASP from Mahoba has been posted as ASP Rural at Faizabad. Four senior officers including ADM, ASP, City Magistrate and Police Inspector hase ben suspended after communal clashes in the district.
