New Delhi today denied that there has been any fresh attack on Indian students in Australia in the last three months. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, the Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal said that news reports about thrashing of an Indian student in the suburbs of Melbourne have not been confirmed by the mission in Australia. He elaborated that Indian High Commissioner had several meetings with the concerned ministers of Australia on the attacks on students there and have conveyed New Delhi's concern to them. The Minister added that Australian government has undertaken various measures for safety and protection of Indian students as India had strongly advocated for stringent measures to stop such attacks. In reply to a question, the Minister dismissed the report that Indian students are unable to return to India because of collapse of several colleges, refusal to renew student visas and the violence against Indian community there.
