Government says there is no evidence that the CPI Maoists are getting funds from China. Replying to questions in the Rajya Sabha today, Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram however said that the Maoists are raising funds in the country by looting and resorting to other illegal means. He however, conceded that they are getting arms from Myanmar and Bangladesh borders and the government is taking up the issue with the friendly neighbours to plug Maoist supplies. He said anyone found involved in supporting Maoists will not be spared. Mr. Chidambaram informed the House that the CBI has arrested 12 persons so far in the Janeswari Express attack case. The agency had conducted detailed investigations which reveal that a frontal organisation of Maoists was responsible for this attack.
