Volkswagen group has said, the problem with the carbon-dioxide emissions in its petrol engine cars is smaller than initially suspected. The German car manufacturer said in a statement that further checks found slight discrepancies in only a few models and there has been no evidence of illegal changes to fuel consumption and emissions figures. The car maker, already reeling from the fallout of cheating on emissions tests for nitrogen oxide in diesel vehicles, said in early November that an internal investigation had revealed unexplained inconsistencies in the Petrol engine for carbon dioxide emissions. However, it said that further internal investigations and measurement checks found that almost all of these model variants do correspond to the carbon dioxide figures originally determined.
