No discrimination in allotment of funds for railway projects: Govt

Minister of State for Railways, Manoj Sinha today denied that there is any discrimination in allotment of funds for railway projects. Replying to the supplementaries in the Lok Sabha, the Minister said that different projects including laying of new lines and guage conversion projects amounting to over Rs 2.58 lakh crore are going on.

He said, an outlay of about Rs 13500 crore has been provided in the current budget for the projects. He admitted that shortage of funds is one of the main factors affecting progress of railway projects. Replying to another question, Mr Sinha said that more investments are required for the development of railways.
