Washington claims that it has a strong fund tracking system to make sure that Pakistan does not use any direct US money to strengthen its nuclear programme. This was state by Commander of the US Central Command General James N Mattis at a Congressional hearing convened by the Senate Armed Services Committee. He was responding to lawmakers concern over recent reports that that Pakistan used US money to double its atomic stockpile, which has crossed 100 mark. Senator Jim Webb said while Pakistan may not be using US money directly to fund its nuclear programme but American assistance in other areas could have helped the country divert its own money.Not satisfied with with Mattis' response, Webb said it's not a healthy situation for the region.
