Government has not taken any decision to repeal the AFSPA as recommended by the Jeevan Reddy Committee Report. Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said in Rajya Sabha today that on security matters, government carefully evaluates the situation on the ground before taking any decision. He was replying to a question on whether government has officially taken a decision on the implementation of the recommendations of the Reddy Committee Report on Armed Forces (Special Powers) Acts (AFSPA). <br/><br/>Mr. Rijiju said representations have been received from time to time from different quarters from Manipur for withdrawal of the Act. He said Jammu and Kashmir government has also demanded phased withdrawal of the Act from the state.
