In Uttar Pradesh, no relaxation in curfew has been allowed for the fourth consecutive day today in Bareilly in all four areas of Baradari, Prem Nagar, Qila and Kotwali police stations. Our Allahabad correspondent reports that about 300 hundred persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement int the violence and violating curfew restrictions. Chairman of the Zila Panchayat and Bahujan Samaj Party leader Neeru Patel and her husband were arrested on Monday in apprehension of breach of peace but they were later released on personal bonds.All schools and colleges, banks and commercial establishments are closed in curfew hit areas. The administration has pressed four mobile vans in service to provide medicines and other essentials for curfew hit areas. No fresh incident of violence was reported from the curfew hit areas. Curfew was clamped on August 11 after clashes between two rival groups over a Janmashtami procession leading to heavy brick batting and firing. Four policemen have been suspended for their alleged dereliction of duties.Meanwhile, ruling Samajwadi Party leaders from the district including Party MLAs and District Unit President have met the Chief Minister at Lucknow and briefed him about the situation. They demanded that financial assistance should be given to the small businessmen who have suffered their properties in violence.
